The second PI Retreat organized by the LS4FUTURE Associate Laboratory gathered 71 researchers and two members of the Strategic Advisory Board for an engaging one-and-a-half-day event held on October 29th and 30th at Hotel Golf Mar. Designed to deepen interactions and collaborations between the PIs of our 5 partner institutes, aligning them with the LS4FUTURE strategy, the retreat proved to be a successful blend of scientific exchange, professional networking, and practical development sessions.
Day one of the retreat centered on scientific presentations that highlighted the thematic lines of LS4FUTURE and celebrated awarded projects from the LS4FUTURE Seed Funding program. These talks showcased the laboratory’s promising research areas and successful collaborations, setting the tone for a productive event. Later in the afternoon, participants broke out into networking sessions, brainstorming initiatives focused on career development, internationalization, and knowledge translation, which aimed to expand LS4FUTURE’s impact and opportunities for community engagement.
The second day focused on essential skills beyond scientific research, covering topics such as effective leadership and supervision, best practices for stakeholder engagement, and strategies for initiating collaborations. These sessions provided attendees with tools to strengthen partnerships within and outside the lab, emphasizing the importance of effective collaboration in scientific advancements.
With a dynamic mix of scientific and strategic discussion, this retreat highlighted the excellence in the research and professional development happening within our community, as well as the potential for new collaborative efforts among partners of the Associate Laboratory as well as with external partners.
