What happened at our partners… September 2024 edition

          

Parkinson’s Disease project at NOVA Medical School was the only Portuguese to win a grant from the European Research Council. The Molecular Nutrition and Health Lab from NOVA Medical School has developed a new molecule that combats neuroinflammation, a key factor in the progression of Parkinson’s Disease. The NEUROSHIELD project, led by researcher Cláudia Nunes dos Santos, received funding of 150,000 euros from the European Research Council and was the only Portuguese project to be awarded with a Proof of Concept grant.

On September 18th, iBET and Hovione officially launched the new joint venture ViSync® Technologies. ViSync will focus on developing innovative solutions to address the unmet technical needs of pharmaceutical companies in the cell and gene therapy sector.
The launch ceremony took place at the iBETBiofarma Building in Oeiras, where ViSync will also be headquartered.

On September 27, ITQB NOVA, in partnership with the Municipality of Oeiras, held the 2nd European Researchers’ Night at the Oeiras Marina, dedicated to local science. The event brought together hundreds of visitors and more than 40 institutions, offering diverse activities for all ages, such as games, demonstrations, workshops, talks and guided tours. NEI Oeiras is part of a national project (EU-EMBRACES) coordinated by ITQB NOVA, in collaboration with i3S and Ciência Viva.
